What is Open Design?
OpenDesign organizes creation around design systems, project files, and AI collaboration. Users can connect installed programming agents, configure their own model keys, or log in to OpenDesign Cloud, then describe pages and preview or modify designs.
The platform supports direct adjustments to elements, text, colors, spacing, and layouts, and offers features such as a design system, collaboration tools, and team feedback. The official website lists editable PowerPoint exports in HTML, PDF, PNG, and presentation formats; currently, there is no explicit support for Figma exports.
The desktop software is open-source under the Apache-2.0 license. Local agents and BYOK do not incur additional OpenDesign cloud credits, but the original agent or model provider still charges according to their respective pricing plans. Storing project files locally does not mean that prompts are entirely offline; their context is sent to the user’s chosen agent, service provider, or the cloud.
